HP 41CV PROBLEM
Message #1 Posted by andy terzis on 13 Apr 2000, 6:12 p.m.

My HP 41CV emits a high pitched sound every time I press a key or it is calculating something. Does anyone know what is causing this? Please e-mail me with info. Thanks.

I know you asked for email, but I'm answering here also in case someone else needs this information.

From your description, it sounds as though you've gotten your HP-41CV into "beep mode." This happens when the 41 is interrupted (by pressing ON-BACKSPACE or ON-ENTER) while a tone is sounding. It doesn't always happen, but sometimes the calculator is left in a condition in which a high-pitched tone sounds every time a key is pressed or a program runs. The easiest way to clear it is to issue a BEEP (SHIFT 4) from the keyboard.
