DEL. SERV. 1 -- what does it do?
Message #1 Posted by Steve on 3 Jan 2000, 10:44 a.m.

I have one of these modules. It has pprograms like: U, K, L, RN, DI... These are all private.

Does anyone know what these modules do (postal delivery?) and what the programs are?

I don't know mush about them but the DEL SERV module was in the HP 41s that were used by the US Postal Service. They were used to measure metrics. Metrics is a fancy way of saying the study of how long it takes to do different jobs. I was told that the USPS employees hated them at first becuase they figured the results would be used to try and make them work faster but the results actually showed that they were doing more work and faster than expected*. After that the employees loved them!

*Maybe that's why the management decided to stop using the 41s.
