I have a 9872a plotter with a HP-IB and a 9815a port is it possible to connect the plotter to a PC parallel port via the 9815a port,if it is possible what is the pinout confuration of the 9815a port on the plotter.

The 9872A is only HP-IB. HP never sold a parallel plotter that I can remember. It seems to me, I remember companies like Black Box sold an HP-IB/parallel converter box years ago. I believe the parallel port for the 9815a is 16 bit while HP-IB(IEEE-488) is not.

You might check with Black Box and see if they offer a converter.
