HP-12C with painted over keys.

I just received an HP-12C, serial number 2843Axxxxx, whose key legends were painted over what appears to be an 11C keyboard. The Museum reports of 10 series scientifics having legends painted over 12C keys, but not vice-versa. How common is this?
