Need advice on repairing 28S battery latch

My 28S' case has a crack where the battery cover slides into. When the leading edge of battery cover is fully engaged, it rests under a lip on calculator's case. The lip has a crack in the top corner and prevents the battery cover from staying latched. I can't put a lot of adhesive/glue on the crack or the battery cover wont be able to engage. What kind of successful repairs have you seen/done on these calculators (I suspect it's a pretty common problem). Thanks Matt K.
